King Charles III (75) will not be attending the COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan next month. Despite the organizers' high expectations that the committed environmental activist would attend the event in Baku, he is prioritizing his health during his ongoing cancer treatment.
Health comes first: King Charles stays away from appointment
According to 'The Mirror', royal insiders have revealed that the British government has decided not to insist on King Charles' presence at the summit. Charles is currently preparing for a tour of Australia with Queen Camilla (77).
The insider says: "The King will not be going to COP. He has not been asked by the government to attend the event and he is also mindful of his own commitments following the upcoming autumn tour."
In July, Charles received the President-elect of COP29, Mukhtar Babayev, who is also the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at his Clarence House residence in London.

The monarch resumed his duties in April and has been receiving regular weekly cancer treatments since his diagnosis in February. In between treatments in London, Charles is mainly spending time in Scotland.
The King and Queen will arrive in Sydney on October 17 and then travel to Samoa to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, where they will meet numerous world leaders on the island nation, as part of their nine-day tour.
With COP29 scheduled for November 11-22, palace officials and government representatives thought it would be too much of a strain for the King to attend.
