- Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are divorced
- Eight years of legal dispute ended
- Complex custody issues resolved
After a lengthy and complex legal battle lasting over eight years, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially settled their divorce. The agreement was signed by both parties on December 30, as Jolie's lawyers announced.
The legal dispute involved not only the divorce itself but also complex custody issues and an ongoing dispute over the French vineyard Château Miraval.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Eight years of legal dispute ended
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt back in 2016 after an incident on a private flight from France to the USA caused a stir.
"More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over," Jolie's lawyer James Simon told 'CNN'.
Complex custody issues resolved
The divorce also involved custody of their children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne, who were between 8 and 15 years old at the time of the application.
Château Miraval remains a point of contention
Another point of contention in the divorce was the sale of Jolie's share of Château Miraval, the French vineyard she and Pitt once owned together. Jolie's sale of her share in 2021 led to an ongoing legal conflict, as Pitt claims the sale was unlawful.
This case is still ongoing and remains a central point in the legal disputes between the two.
