- King Charles recovers from cancer treatment
- Official dates planned in Italy
- Meeting with the Prime Minister and charity events
King Charles (76) has had a short stay in a hospital in London due to side effects of his cancer treatment. Due to these circumstances, a planned visit to Birmingham had to be postponed.
The King spent the weekend recuperating at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire and will resume his official duties in the coming days. These include a meeting with the Prime Minister and investments at Windsor Castle, reports the 'BBC'.
King Charles' return to public duties
Following the side effects of his cancer treatment, which prevented him from making a planned visit last week, King Charles will return to public appointments this week.
Despite the hospitalization, he felt well enough later in the day to work in his study at Clarence House and have dinner with the Queen. Nevertheless, the doctors advised against making the journey to the Midlands.
Planned appointments and state visit to Italy
This week, King Charles will attend an event to mark the 50th anniversary of Papua New Guinea's independence and attend an event for an aviation charity that supports isolated communities in low-income countries, including Papua New Guinea.
The 76-year-old monarch has been receiving cancer treatment for over a year, but has been able to continue to fulfill his public duties. Although the King has made his treatment public, the palace has not released any further details about his diagnosis or the temporary side effects of his cancer treatment. The King chose to share the news to avoid speculation.
Next week, the King will make a state visit to Italy, during which he will take part in a series of public and diplomatic events in Rome and Ravenna. Originally, a meeting with Pope Francis was planned, but this was postponed due to the pontiff's health problems. The visit to Italy coincides with the King and Queen's 20th wedding anniversary.
