When asked about the first thing that made her feel truly independent and happy, Blanchard didn't hesitate. "I know it's gonna sound really cheesy, but the truth is when I divorced Ryan, and filed for divorce and I followed my heart to true love," she shared. Emphasizing the importance of following one's heart, Blanchard's message was clear: life is too short for anything less than happiness.
A love born behind bars
Blanchard's relationship with Anderson blossomed behind the walls of Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, where she was serving a 10-year sentence for her involvement in the murder of her mother, Clauddine “DeeDee” Blanchard. Despite the unconventional start, their love led to a private jailhouse wedding in July 2022. However, by December 2023, Blanchard found herself on a path to independence, following her parole release.
Reflecting on her marriage and subsequent separation, Blanchard described the experience as "heartbreaking" but necessary for her growth. "No one gets married to get a divorce," she told 'PEOPLE,' highlighting the emotional toll of her separation. Yet, it was through this process that Blanchard rediscovered a part of herself that felt lost. "I definitely feel a sense of belonging in that space," she concluded, finding solace in her newfound freedom and happiness.
